City of Jackson, TN to allow the Sale and Use of Fireworks within the City Limits

JACKSON, Tenn. – In celebration of the spirit of community and tradition, the City of Jackson is excited to announce that seasonal sales and usage of fireworks are now permitted within the city limits.
Residents are welcome to enjoy fireworks as part of the 4th of July and New Year's Day holiday celebrations, however, safety, respect for neighbors, and adherence to fire codes remain top priorities.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this exciting new chapter for City of Jackson as we allow the sale and use of fireworks for the first time. This has always been one of my favorite holidays, and now our community can enjoy it with even more spirit,” said Jackson Fire Marshal LaTrell Billingsley. “As we embrace this tradition we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly remember safety must be the top priority. Let's work together to make this a safe, fun, and memorable celebration for everyone in the City of Jackson for years to come.”
Fireworks will not be permitted in Public Parks or on Government Property.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, residents are urged to follow these important guidelines:
Fire Safety First
- Only use consumer fireworks approved by Tennessee state law.
- Never ignite fireworks near dry grass, structures, or flammable materials.
- Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby in case of fire.
- Supervise all fireworks activity—especially when children are present.
Be Mindful of Pets and Neighbors
- Many pets are sensitive to loud noises. Consider notifying your neighbors if you plan to use fireworks nearby.
- Secure pets indoors during fireworks to prevent stress or escape.
- Be courteous about the time and location of your celebration.
Clean Up After the Fun
- Debris from fireworks can clog storm drains and litter public spaces.
- Dispose of all firework remains properly. Soak used fireworks in water before discarding.
- Help keep our city clean and safe for everyone.
Let’s celebrate this exciting change together—safely, respectfully, and responsibly. Light up the sky, not the risk!
Fireworks may be used during designated hours outlined in the city’s fire code. Violations may result in citations or fines.
